If you're looking for a new engine for your classic Mini, but don't need a complete rebuilt power unit with gearbox and head, we've got you covered! These precision-built short blocks are a great alternative to the more expensive complete rebuilt engines.
We've taken the three most popular blocks; the early, A-series 1275cc block @ .020" over, the 1275cc A+ block @ .020" over, and the 1380cc A+ block, and put together short versions of them that are "High-Performance-Ready" platforms. This means that the blocks are fitted with high compression (9.75:1) Nural pistons, lightweight duplex timing sets, ARP rod bolts, and a performance-grade street camshaft. These blocks are also drilled to accept 11-stud heads. All that's left for you is to supply the head, gearbox and other ancillary items and you're "down the road motors!"
A-series engines are the common type found in North America. A+ units are identified by extra block ribbing and forked distributor retainer.
All short block engines are machined and fitted with freshly-reground or newly-polished cranks. New cam bearings are installed as are new main and rod bearings and crank thrusts. New oil pumps and reground camshafts are installed. Engine timing is done and a distributor drive spindle is in place for your ignition system.
Blocks are painted in MOWOG Green unless otherwise specified. Blocks will accept either 9-stud or 11-stud iron or aluminum cylinder heads.
