Most classic Minis from 1962-1973 had the large cast remote shifter assembly, which helped significantly to prevent engine rocking, leading to deterioration of the engine mounts. Later Minis with rod change shifters had much less engine support and therefore one or two lower stabilizer arms had to be added, but they are close to the engine and don't supply the same level of stabilization as the earlier setup. This conversion provides an additional upper mounting point at the front end of the engine, adding much rigidity. Note this kit does not fit the Mini 1000 with rear-outlet "smog" thermostat housing unless the housing is changed to front outlet type.
